If You Want to Go Fast, Go Alone; If You Want to Go Far, Go Together
A memorable passage while reading
Thinking back, it seems that up until last year, I tried to do everything efficiently. Rather than moving slowly together with the people around me, I focused on specializing myself—quickly, quickly. Development, studying English, reading books, writing in a journal. I think I ended up quitting these things after trying to do them efficiently on my own, eventually losing interest.
Now I know that it’s more important to keep doing something steadily over a long time. Exercise, journaling, running, cooking, work, development—I know that doing them together may be slower, but doing them together means being able to keep going for a long time.
Whenever I catch myself trying to deliberately ignore the people around me and do things efficiently on my own, I want to remind myself of this feeling.
