Morning Calm Arboretum

It was my first visit in spring, and the place was awash with flowers. The cherry blossoms had mostly fallen in Seoul, yet they were still in bloom at Morning Calm Arboretum — which I found rather remarkable. Perhaps it’s because the air is cooler, nestled as it is among the mountains? Of all my visits so far, I think Morning Calm Arboretum in spring has been the most beautiful.

The golden thread cypress — a tree you tend to come across at various arboretums — was here as well. I was thinking how beautiful it looked, glittering golden in the sunlight, when it struck me that I had never once grown a tree myself. On a bit of an impulse, I ended up buying a golden thread cypress sapling. It’s my first time growing a tree, so I wonder if I’ll manage to raise it well. Since I’ll be keeping it indoors, I suppose I’ll have to tend to it much like a seedling.
