Okinawa

June 2025.

At Toss, CEO Seunggun Lee holds an April Fools’ event like clockwork every year. At that year’s event, a raffle was drawn to send 100 Toss team members on a trip to Okinawa, and I ended up winning — so I found myself going on an Okinawa trip I had never planned for.

We stayed at Halekulani Okinawa. It was an incredibly luxurious resort, the kind of place I wondered if I’d ever get to stay at again. The landscaping was beautiful, the pool was expansive, and the food at the restaurants was delicious — there wasn’t a dull moment even spending the entire day within the resort grounds. I remember lying on a poolside sun lounger as the sun set over the western horizon, soaking in that feeling of utter leisure. If I ever get the chance — on a honeymoon, say — I’d love to spend at least one night at a resort like this.

I also went running along the Okinawa shoreline in the summer heat. The weather was quite hot and the sun was strong, but running with the sea breeze on my face felt wonderful. Running down a quiet road with a wide-open view is always a pleasure.
